A project to build branding and an online store from scratch for an aquarium industry brand that had not sold online before. The goal was to build a complete e-commerce environment, organise a broad product range and prepare a store focused on productisation, conversion and the convenient assembly of complete aquarium sets.

About the brand

TD Stones is a brand in the aquarium industry offering everything needed to build and equip an aquarium, from substrates and decorations to equipment and accessories. In this project it was important to create a coherent brand from scratch and a store that does not just sell products but guides the user through the entire selection process. On the live site you can see categories covering substrates, rocks and stones, driftwood, backgrounds, filtration, lighting and accessories.

Our scope of work

What we do

As part of the project we were responsible for creating the entire brand identity, its communication and the online store from scratch. The client had no e-commerce before, so our task was to prepare a complete online sales environment ready both visually and operationally. On our side was designing the branding, the store structure, the UX and the logic of an offer built on a wide product catalogue and an extensive category tree.

We put a lot of emphasis on productising the offer and organising the purchase path. The store was designed so users can move comfortably between categories, assemble the elements needed to build an aquarium and move faster from inspiration to purchase. Product and operational integration also played an important role, including importing the catalogue and connecting to Baselinker. Publicly you can see a site built on a broad category structure, bestseller and new arrival sections, an offer of the month and the "Build your aquarium" mechanic, which supports buying in terms of a set rather than a single product.

Your customer isn't sitting at a desk

Mobile isn't a trend, it's where sales happen

1.

Shopping thought of as a set, not item by item

On a phone, users often are not looking for one product but trying to put together something bigger. That is why mobile was designed to make it easier to move between the stages of building an aquarium and to pick matching elements faster.

2.

A catalogue that does not distract

With a broad offer, it was important to lay out mobile so users do not get lost between categories, promotions and listings. The layout had to help with the choice, not turn shopping into hopping between random products.

3.

A cart that closes the decision

In this project the phone had to do more than lead to a product – it had to close the purchase effectively. So it mattered a great deal how users move from the offer to the cart and how the store suggests next steps that increase order value.

Scope of our work

Dedicated solution

In this project we implemented a cart upselling mechanic that supports higher order value and helps users close a purchase more consciously. The store shows how much is left to qualify for free delivery while suggesting additional products to add to the cart. As a result the purchase path does not end at a single product but actively supports increasing cart value.
