An e-commerce rebuild and growth project for Samolocik, covering the implementation of a new online store, a refresh of the brand's identity and communication, and the reorganisation of a very extensive product catalogue. The goal was to create a stable, high-performance and scalable sales environment that improves UX, makes it easier to find a specific model and supports further business growth.

About the brand

Samolocik is an e-commerce store aimed at aviation enthusiasts and collectors of model aircraft, with a very broad and multi-layered product range. As part of the project we were responsible for creating the new online store, refreshing the brand's communication and visual layer and designing the entire shopping experience from scratch. An important element was moving away from an old store that was limiting growth towards a new solution that organises the catalogue, improves performance and communicates the offer better. On our side was also preparing the UX and the implementation with extensive navigation, filtering, search, cart, integration with the client's systems and SEO migration in mind. The site itself shows a very broad catalogue structure and many entry paths into the offer, which confirms how important information architecture was in this implementation.

Our scope of work

What we do

The Samolocik project was above all an e-commerce rebuild aimed at further business growth. The client needed a new sales environment that would be stable, high-performance and ready to handle an extensive catalogue while also putting the user experience in order. This project was not merely about a new look for the store, but about creating a better-working sales tool able to cope with a large number of categories, filters, selection variants and daily operational work.

The key challenge was designing an information architecture for an offer that users can navigate in several different ways. Products can be discovered by manufacturer, airline, model type, scale or additional accessories, so the interface had to guide users clearly and intuitively. The extensive mega menu, the search and the filtering logic were treated as the foundation of the shopping experience, not as add-ons to the store. That is especially important on a site whose offer covers many category groups and a very wide range of models.

The second important area was connecting the sales layer with the operational one. The store was designed to communicate availability better, support the purchase decision and work smoothly with the client's systems. As a result the project not only improves how the brand is perceived and how convenient shopping is, but genuinely supports scaling the e-commerce further.

Your customer isn't sitting at a desk

Mobile isn't a trend, it's where sales happen

1.

Navigation built for a large catalogue

The mobile views were designed with the store's very extensive structure in mind. With such a broad offer, it was crucial that users can enter the right path comfortably from a phone and narrow down their choice quickly without a sense of chaos.

2.

Filters that genuinely help you search

On mobile the most important thing was moving extensive filtering into a form that stays comfortable to use. A user looking for a specific model by manufacturer, airline, scale or product type has to be able to work through the offer efficiently on a small screen too – and the Samolocik catalogue really does operate on many parallel axes of choice.

3.

A fast decision without losing context

In the mobile experience it was important not only to find the product but to keep the move to purchase smooth. That is why the layout was designed so users do not lose their bearings between the category, the filters, the product card and the cart, and can move efficiently from finding a model to completing an order.

Scope of our work

Dedicated solution

In this project we implemented two significant solutions supporting sales and shopping convenience. The first was expanding the logic of the catalogue, filtering and search so users can find a specific model faster within a very broad offer covering many manufacturers, airlines, scales and product types. The second was designing an extensive cart with upselling mechanics, including a progress bar and purchase suggestions that support increasing cart value. In addition, on the product cards we implemented dedicated shipping-date messaging and integrated stock levels and operational processes with the client's systems, which makes the purchase process clearer and supports conversion.
