LinkedIn Ads – when is it worth investing and what does it cost?

Insights

LinkedIn Ads is one of the most precise advertising tools in the B2B world. But should every company use it? In this article we look at when LinkedIn advertising makes sense, what it costs to run and what you can realistically achieve.

1. Who is LinkedIn Ads for?

LinkedIn advertising is not for everyone – but for the right companies it can be exceptionally effective. It works best for:

  • companies offering services/products for business (B2B),
  • companies with a high customer value (e.g. software, consulting, B2B manufacturing),
  • recruiting specialists and employer branding,
  • promoting industry events, whitepapers and reports.

2. What ad formats are there?

LinkedIn offers various ad formats:

  • Sponsored Content – sponsored posts (images, video, carousels)
  • Message Ads – private messages to users
  • Conversation Ads – messages with interactive paths
  • Text Ads – text ads in the right-hand column
  • Dynamic Ads – ads with the user's name (e.g. "Igor, join the webinar")

3. Costs – what does it really cost?

LinkedIn is the most expensive channel in terms of unit cost of reach. Sample ranges:

  • CPC: PLN 6–15 (sometimes more in niche industries)
  • CPM: PLN 100–300
  • CPL (lead): PLN 60–250

It is worth remembering that:

  • The minimum daily budget is around PLN 50
  • Campaign effectiveness depends on segmentation, creative quality and how attractive the offer is
  • The cost per lead can be high, but is often justified by customer value (e.g. in B2B software)

4. An example from the market

An IT consulting firm promoted a webinar and a lead magnet (a PDF with market analysis). The campaign ran for 14 days targeting IT directors and CTOs at companies with 50+ employees:

  • Format: Sponsored Content + Lead Gen Form
  • Budget: PLN 6,000
  • Results: 98 leads (CPL: PLN 61), 23 webinar attendees, 9 sales meetings

5. How do you make a campaign more effective?

  • Define your ICP (Ideal Customer Profile) precisely
  • Test different formats – e.g. carousel vs video
  • Use Lead Gen Forms if you want conversions within the platform
  • Personalise the creatives – use job titles, company names, industry language
  • Monitor not just the number of leads but their quality (e.g. demo attendance, sales team feedback)

6. When do LinkedIn Ads not make sense?

  • When the offer is not suited to B2B or the cart value is low
  • When the budget is very limited (under PLN 3,000 per campaign)
  • When you have not yet tested the offer and do not know your audience well

7. Summary

LinkedIn Ads is a channel with great potential but also a high cost. The key to success is the right choice of audience, an attractive value proposition and proper measurement. It is not a channel for cheap leads, but for valuable business relationships.

8. Checklist: before you launch a LinkedIn campaign

  • Does your target group actively use LinkedIn?
  • Do you have a suitable budget (min. PLN 3,000–5,000)?
  • Do you know which format will best support your objective?
  • Do you have creatives ready and matched to B2B language?
  • Is the sales team ready to handle the leads?
  • Do you measure lead quality, not just quantity?
  • Have you tested the offer in other channels first?
  • Do you have a clear follow-up after the campaign (e.g. email, call, demo)?
  • Are you using tracking tools (e.g. the LinkedIn Insight Tag)?
  • Have you set KPIs and a schedule for analysing results?
